Cristiano Ronaldo in trouble?
Weeks after accepting the Ballon d’Or award as the football player of the year, Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself in hot water. In Real Madrid’s win over Cordoba CF over the weekend, Cristiano Ronaldo was served a red card for his violentkick and hit on Cordoba CF’s Edimar Fraga late in the match.
Earlier in the season Ronaldo scored on a penalty kick which placed Cristiano Ronaldo 6th all time in Europe’s goal scoring ladder. Even though his team could not come away with a victory, Ronaldo is still proud to be on such an elite list of strikers.
Even though Cristiano Ronaldo achieved a milestone in his career, he could face a harsh punishment for his actions in the closing minutes of the match against Cordoba CF. Ronaldo received a red card to the shock of himself and his team mates. This could potentially cost Ronaldo two to twelve games. In case you are wondering why such a drastic difference in number of games, it is because the two games is the minimum suspension he will be facing. As for the twelve, Barcelona superstar Neymar Jr. believes Ronaldo should be charged with the maximum suspension due to how violent the play unfolded. “Barcelona forward Neymar has urged the Spanish football authorities to punish Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo following his violent outbursts against Cordoba. Neymar understands forwards can be provoked into retaliating, but insists the former Manchester United player should be punished for his aggressive behavior during the 2-1 win.” This is according toDailymail.
After the match, Ronaldo tweeted out to his fans and to the football community, “I apologize to everyone and especially Edimar for my thoughtless act in the game today .” For many football fans across the world, they are hoping to see Ronaldo play again shortly and hoping this does not put a damper on such an illustrious career.
