Lazio 0-2 Napoli

Napoli claimed three vital points at the Stadio Olimpico with a 2-0 win over Lazio. The Partenopei started the match well and almost took the lead in the 6th minute when Lazio defender Basta misplaced pass was intercepted by Gonzalo Higuain but for once the inform argentine didn’t find the back of the net with Lazio keeper Marchetti stopping his low drive. Higuain did find the net in the 23rd minute though, Jorginho played a wonderfully lofted ball to Callejon who’s ball across the box was met by Higuain who’s initial shot was saved but the ball ricocheted off him into the net. Three minutes later Napoli had a second, Insigne showed excellent vision and technique to find Callejon in behind the Lazio defence and Callejon produced a stunning lob of the Lazio keeper to give the Partenopei a 2-0 lead. Lazio regrouped in the second half but they rarely tested Pepe Reina, the referee stopped the play late in the second half after there was alleged racist chants aimed at Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. A big win for Napoli in their race for the scudetto.

Hellas Verona 2-1 Atalanta:

Verona won their first game of the season against Atalanta at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi thanks to goals by Siligardi and Pazzini. Atalanta came into this game without a win in their last four but got off to the best possible start when Conti turned the ball into an open net after mistake the Verona defence. Verona got the equaliser just before half time thanks to excellent work from Siligardi, the 28 year old picked the ball up on the edge of the Atalanta box and then dribbled through three opposition defenders before smashing the ball past Atalanta keeper Sportiello. After the restart Atalanta went down to 10 men after drame was shown a second yellow. It took Verona till the 82nd minute to make the advantage count when Pazzini turned home an excellent pull back from Wszolek. Despite Verona claiming their first three points of the season they are still 10 points from safety.

Palermo 0-2 Milan:

Milan made it 5 Serie A games unbeaten when they beat Palermo 2-0 on Wednesday night. Milan started the game brightly with Bonaventura and Honda both forcing saves from Palermo keeper Sorrentino. Milan did take the lead when Bacca finished Abate’s low cross to give the Colombian 12 Serie a goals this season. Milan took a 2-0 lead when Niang scored a penalty after Palermo defender Goldaniga handled the ball in the penalty area. There were few chances in the second half as Milan saw out the game to record a victory that puts them within 2 points of 5th placed Roma. Palermo meanwhile sit in 15th place, just 6 points above the relegation places.
